• This work had as main objective the study and development of an embryonic concept of assistive technology focused on the inclusion of visually impaired people.

• When analyzed the difficulties faced by visually impaired people on the process of consumption, communication, inclusion and recognition, came up the idea to develop a device of technological convergence able to assist, guide and provide to these people the autonomy in the process of consumption. This way the disabled person is provided of a tool that gives them a possibility of shopping at supermarket, stores and diverse variety of shops without the direct assistance of thirds.

• The concept developed summarizes into a device able to recognize the characters of a bar code and converts the information in it in sound synthesis, providing to the deficient a necessary instrument to recognize, buy and choose the product that meets their needs at the time of the purchase. This way they can know the technical data of the product, compare prices of similar items, know the color of the clothes and relevant information about it.
